Whitney was born in Houston, TX and grew up there until she and her family moved to Los Angeles, CA.
In middle school, she came to have a personal relationship with Jesus after hearing about Him throughout her childhood at Sunday School and her family.
Throughout high school, college, and beyond, God's stoked her desire to see humans experience the healing, restoration, and goodness of knowing God. Initially, she thought God would use her in the journalism world (her major at UC Irvine), but she has seen how her tendency toward stories moved her from writing about them to taking an active role in them. She continues to ask God how He is overcoming shame, abuse, trauma, and grief. And she regularly ponders race, identity, gender, and advocacy. There's a special place in her heart for women: that they might know their Godly identities and how they can step into their right, reigning places alongside men.
She loves to learn (and laugh) and has completed a Lay Counseling Certificate through The Allender Center at The Seattle School and a Long-Form Improvisational Comedy Certification through The Upright Citizens Brigade in LA and Endgames Improv in SF. Books are her friends, so she loves talking about them. And the way to her heart is through handwritten notes/cards, chips & salsa (guac is a perfectly acceptable substitution), and pizza.
Also, Whitney sells some of her doodles, handwritten notes/cards and paintings on Etsy! Check out her shop below!
